pickling lime

Just about any grocery store, though it may be seasonal. It's usually in the area with canning products.

Depending on where you live, you may be able to get "Cal"
Pronounced "Kaul"

I got mine at a nearby mexican tortilla store. and it's VERY cheap there, at only $1.00 per Lb

Just make sure the only ingredient is Calcium Hydroxide. Some brands have other stuff in them.

Two Part Soautions, one of the RC sponsors sells a nice food grade bulk product.

im in the bronx new york can i just go to a local pathmark or something?

Eww, that may be a little more difficult. Don't know how many people can their own veggies in the Big City, so there may not be a market for it. I would at least give them a try. Might have to go outside town a bit to find it. Might be able to find some if there is a fresh veggie or "farmers" market near by. If you can get to Stew Leonard's I'm sure you can find it there, but that would sure be a long trip just for pickling lime.

anyone know where i can buy it?

WAL MART! or most any Grocery store

the thing is my cousin in puerto rico wants me to get him some its 4 his fishtank but ive never seen or heard of the product. stew leonards is about 15minutes from my house if i cant find it i will have to go there.also does this come in a can or bottle?

It's a mostly green label and white plastic can with a green lid. About the size of a jar of mayo. The full name is Mrs. Wages Pickling Lime. It has some pictures of veggies on the front.

It will be easier to find when gardening season starts and the cukes are out. I'm one of the few people that still cans stuff, so I've got a bunch of it from last spring. My pickles taste horrible, but Mrs. Wages works great on the reef! Hmmm...maybe I should start using Kent's kalkwasser mix to make the pickles. :D

Hi, Igrew up in Brooklyn and Queens and went to school in the Bronx. I soubt you'll find it there. Your cousin might do better ordering it on line.

I had a hard time finding it, but WalMart does have it as goreefer said with the canning supplies - pots & pans aisles. It was about $3 and will last a very long time...
