Personally, I wouldn't think 2 clowns and a nem have much chance of survival in a 3 gallon pico without temp swings....Regardless, those hydor plates are always on, correct? So, if you hit summer without temp control in the room, your likely to overheat... likely recommended temps for them are going to between 78 and 82....
I'd still be concerned with 2 fish and a nem in a 3 gallon tank. If you have a lot of rock for filtration, you have little swimming room and a lot less water. If you have minimal rock, you have little filtration for only three gallons of water. I have a pico, (5.5 ecopico) and I was concerned adding a single goby..You have your "finger on the pulse" of the tank, so if you think your good, I won't argue that, but you can see the dilemma here with someone I have to perceive as new (given post count is what I have to judge from) asking a semi basic question about temperature, and stating that the current temperature isn't within current recommended ranges. Goof luck with the tank, pico's can be a real challenge.

I had two tiny damsels in my 3g pico for months with no issues, but at some point they will outgrow their home or you will run into aggression issues due to the small space.
I'd try looking into a different heater and target a higher temp. 78 is the ideal temp and goal is to have as little swing as possible.

My recommendation is 76-78, a thermostat controlled heater as the most important equipment you have, get the proper goby. Post a full tank shot so we can track your outcomes/timespan of the tank to help others starting down the same road.

I apologize for my decision to keep and care for two clowns and a nem in such a small tank. I also apologize spending more time with my tanks than i do starting threads and posting to threads. I have several tanks and have been in the salt world for some time. I have a lot of Passion and pride in Saltwater fish and reef. I guess I left out a lot in My question. The pico has been setup for awhile now. It's had two blue damsels for as long as I can remember. It also has a large rock and gets weekly water changes. Obviously the damsels have been removed. The reason for the question was the damsels didn't care much that the water was somewhat cold. I figured the clowns being in the same family and as hearty as they are would get used to it. As far as swimming goes, my large clowns do a lot of hanging out in the corner and lay eggs every three weeks. These two guys in the pico don't leave the nem. When they do get bigger they will move on to a new bigger better home.

So will you post pics so we can track it? And, are you getting a heater w thermostat
I don't think clowns stand a better chance in a ten and lots do that, its your heater I think will get the tank eventually
