Pics I took for Y-Diver's 29gal Sept nTOTM

What is sept nTOTM Is that someone nominated it for tank of the month? And TOTM Where? Just curious. It is a very nice tank, Simple in it's approach to good water quality
which is key to healthy coral. Not sure I would have the GSP in there as they will be a problem sooner or later JMO

Y-Diver win?

Y-Diver win?

Did Y-Divers tank win? Some of the Nano tanks in the Tanks of the Month are awesome. Has anyone from Middle Tennessee ever entered?

He did win tank of the month. It's an awesome tank, the colors of his coral are just simply amazing.

Thanks for the kind remarks indirectly everyone! He really did a great job with the photographs! I hooked him up with some nice frags for a swap!

Bill,

Definitely regret the GSP's... they were in the tank when I moved it and didn't tanke them out. Big mistake! The only thing I've found to control them is Joe's juice for aiptasia... any other suggestions?

Tyler, GSP can be a PITA to control. I made my own Kalk paste to Nuke it. worked like a freaking charm. and would knock back anything I put it on.

take a Microwave safe saucer or bowl and put a 2 tbsp of pickling lime in it and enough RO water to make it like toothpaste consistency. then add a tsp of crushed red pepper and some hot sauce like Tabasco. Microwave till its bubbly hot then stir it up. add soem water to keep it like toothpaste consistency. it cannot be watery or it will not stick to the intended victim. then spoon it into a syringe and squirt away. it is reef safe (dont get it on coral) and kills it off very well, just tastes like sh!+. Ive used it on GSP, Pavona, Apistasia, Mojanos and Tulip anems. on the nems, just put a drop in their mouth. they melt away in a matter of an hour or so. also, if you attack a section of the GSP, it will all close up.

+1 on the above, Also if you can remove any of the rocks a Wire Brush worked pretty well for me. I did not see a trace of them after that for almost a year B4 a few poped back up and were taken back out a second time. No traces of them at all now.
As far as Why No GSP, They will kill anything they grow over including high dollar SPS to me that's a No No...
Bill

Bill, I picked at time a bit with a toothbrush and just mashed the tar out of them with my hands.. I had a clam sitting in the middle of them, and they never grew onto that shell, but quickly encased several milliporas.

plus the advantage of that stuff I make is it is super cheap. I think I donated my entire stash of pickling lime to Samanthameeks when she was buying stuff. wish I knew where that Purigen bag I had went...

Since I can't remove the rocks, I will give this a try as it will be much cheaper than the bottles of Joe's Juice! Any idea where to pick up the pickling lime?

Thanks!

Grocery store like Kroger or Publix by the canning supplies. just standard Pickling lime. it can also be used for making Limewater Kalk Drips or kalkwasser. and yes, its super cheap to make. that tub will last your FOREVER if just making paste.
