Check if you have any astray electric current going though your tank. Simple multimeter test could determine this. My friend had his full SPS system brought dwon his knees only to find out that he had faulty water heater which caused electric being released in to his tank hence killing most of his SPS corals. He sorted that out and now full recovery on its way.......

81 is high ??? maybe for a ten gallon in front of a window , but no this has nothing to do with anything on a larger reef where there isnt the temp. fluctuation . i run all my setups at 80-81 and have been happy with the results . .25 ....yup salinity . your skimmer working well ? should be on overtime with a bucket of corpses like that , any buildup on the sand , new algae's , other strange factors ???

I unfortunately had the same looking wipeout last July (2010 ). STN from bottom or middle. Some went faster than others for me. I unfortunately was running very high salinity ( not properly calibrated refractometer ) and an auto top off failure put my salinity over the brink. I lowered the salinity to the proper range and restarted in Dec 2010. Everything has been going great since so the salinity seems to be the culprit for me.
If you have not already, check and recheck to see you are getting a proper salinity reading.

I had sps losses driving me nuts earlier this spring, all my params checked out great, but I was losing corals. Bought new calibration fluid for my refractometer and was running way high at .40ppm. I have brought it down to correct level and sps seem to be rebounding. So as said above, recheck that salinity.

.25 means 1.025 right I guess iwill check with store on salinity
I am running carbon through 2 little fishies smaller reactor and then have large bag after ozone reractor drop off into remote sand bed.
I did a 55 gallon water change a few days ago and after the change 2 mini colonies rtned. But im a beliver in reducing toxins. gonna do another change in a few days and replace carbon
started doing hydrogen peroxide to increase oxegen and help fight potential rtn flakes that might have got spread around.
I will check for electric
temp of 80-81 in the summer has been reading this same range for the last 3 summers
tem p in winter is 78-80 I have 700 gallons of water so flux is very small

I would test everything alk, ca, mag, no3, po4 low range, ammonia, nitrites, check for copper, recalibrate your refractometer. Do not put hydrogen peroxide in your tank! Check for pests, red bugs and AEFW. If you are running a Ca reactor check for alk spikes and check that you ph is in range. Are you running bio pellets your vodka? If so stop they strip the water to clean. A few of the corals you pulled out could have been fragged and saved.
