This is outside doing a freshwater run through, if anyone has any questions or suggestions just let me know.

Thanks
Andrew

I like it, it looks good! hey, where did you get your glass cut for your sump? how much did they charge? btw....I think you have enough electrical plugs j/k

yeah I think I'm good on plugs, as for the sump its acrylic, I got 2 pieces from some guy off eBay but it was overpriced and the others are acrylic from Home Depot, that my Dad cut with a box cutter.

A.T. i promise you will redo the plugs lol. Youll make a power box with switches eventually. I personally would make like a shield over the top of those plugs so no water splashes on them since they are right under the tank. Sump looks great man nice work. How quiet is that overflow?

Its pretty quite, that durso thingy works really good, I don't think I have room for a separate box but I might be able to make a shield over them, thanks dude

AT- one of my buddies fried alot of electronics from some splashed water. Cover those plugs. It WILL happen sooner or later. You might be able to mount them on the underside of the tank inside the stand.

I thought of doing that but figured the evaporation would be just as bad as a splash.

I had mine like that in my 55 reef, it was there over 2 years with no problem. I guess you would just have to watch it. And you might have to replace the 6 or 8 way outlets every few years.

Do you have room on the inside of the stand on the sides to mount the plugs sideways? out of the way of evaoporation? In my stand I have a separate chamber just for electronics and stuff.

Maybe you could build a little shelf or box inside the stand that the evap \creep wouldn't get to that they could sit in?

I got my glass cut at this place in sanford, it was 20 bucks for 4 pieces.

BUT the people dont know how to measure, I asked for 11 11/16 and got 12" So regardless to say I had to install my glass at angles (for lack of time to wait till the following monday), which still works but doesnt look that great.

Here it is - kinda messy since I was rearranging stuff and haven't straightened up yet:

This plug goes to the wall plug but there's a whole separate chamber for my sump so this is underneath the tank and very dry in its own place

At you also need to cut that overflow pipe to like 2 inches under water and then put a filter sock on it like mine. No more bubbles splashing everywhere, and it will be quieter.

If thats not a refugium, then yes I agree with playa cut the pipe, and put a sock on it. It has made my setup so much more quiet. I have a sump side and a refugium side, on my refugium side I have the pipe like you do, but there isn't much flow going through my refugium so the bubbles arent that bad. Most of my flow goes to my sump, then to my protein skimmer/ phosban reactor section, then to the return section.

I'll try to get a pic posted later. Though I took the idea from some on melev's reef.

I have a full refugium and I did it like that anyway. A.T. make sure you get the sock with the zip tie deal on it not the big filter sock things. Those are for something else.
