Here are some pics of my new mantis. This is the one that I got when I ordered a peacock online. It's obviously not a Peacock but I would like to get an ID on it...We should be able to tell from the picks...

did you mean bump^^^? and thats a pretty cool mantis you have there. Did you get him out of your tank or are you putting him in?

That doesn;t look too much like an N. Wennerae telson to me. The outer spikes aren;t paired like the N. Wennerae telson is.

Someone shoot me down or back me up on this :)

Yeah that's great :) but it doesn;t look like that pic that I posted :(

Maybe the telsons grow a third outer spike as they get older but I don;t know.

But this still doesn;t mean that it isn;t an O.S.

Maybe Dr. Roy will catch wind of this and let you know for sure :)

yeah but I was under the impression that O.S. have bright coloration their entire lives. Have you seen many 2" O.S's?

Here's what the vendor sent to me in respose. Is it just me or was it known that I was getting the wrong thing to begin with?

We sincerely apologize for the problems you've had with this order. You are correct that the Mantis Shrimp you received is most likely the a Common Mantis Shrimp as their coloration will not fade, and they are born with their bright colors. In compensation for this mistake, we will credit your customer account for the $39.99 cost of the Mantis Shrimp. This credit is available immediately, and can be used for any future orders with Drs. Foster and Smith, LiveAquaria.Com, or eTropicals.Com.

Looks like N. Wennerae to me. It's definitely not an O. Scyllarus. I understood also that they look mostly the same even when smaller.

That's real good of Drs. Foster and Smith. Freebie mantis and another when it's available... :)

Heheh... absolutely. They can send me as many "wrong" stomatopods as they want. :)

Are you going to keep this one or pass it on to someone else?

I dunno. I've got it in a 1 gallon mini tank right now. I didn't want to put it in the mantis tank I put together cuz I don't want to have to tear it apart whne the real one gets here....

Does that bother you? Go change your panties...JK :D I've always typed that along with many, many other people on this board....
