Pics of my Rock Flower Anemones

I have 7 of these guys now :) They are one of my favorites! Lately it's been tough to find just green ones though.

The other 2 are blah and I don't have pictures. I ordered them as a not WYSIWYG through salt critters. Both came in tiny and brown. One is turning a hunter green but still not very pretty.

?

I am confused?

Won't that Anemone kill the Zoanthids around it from its Sting?

It irritated the ones right by it but the others did fine. It eventually moved again to a more open spot. Their sting isn't that bad from what I have seen.

The white one is gorgeous. Do you know what that one is called? I have three right now. And one is beige the other two I have are weird looking.

Rock anemones spawn in the spring because of the temp change and the lighting. So if you have them by a window they will probably spawn.

If you keep your Temperature Constant all Year Long from your Heater how do they Spawn then?

Do people turn up the heat on their Heater to get them to Spawn?

If that is the case it is not good for Coral because keeping things Constant is Key.

Temperature swings don't harm corals if they happen slowly throughout the day. It's harmful if the temperature swing happens fast! Now with that said, I don't turn up the heat in my tank to encourage the rock anemones to spawn. The breed on a regular basis in my tank so am not sure that the only spawn/breed in the spring or summer.

I just bought this one last week. It was my first but definitely won't be my last. I consider it the showpiece of my tank.

This is under regular lights...

I bought mine at K and P Aquatics. All of their livestock is hand collected by the owners from the waters around the Florida Keys. They are good people to work with and they have a great selection of flower anemones at reasonable prices. You can't beat their shipping prices either.

The more uniquely colored ones go into the "K and P Sea Gems WYSIWYG" section of their website. Check there often because the really nice ones don't last long.

What type of lighting do you have over your set up? These beauties look their best under LED lighting. I can see how beautiful that will look under the right lighting conditions.

At the moment, I have him in a 36 gallon bowfront that is lit with a Current USA Orbit Marine LED. It's an okay light that seems to be working well enough to keep a fair amount of softies and LPS coral thriving. He's sitting at the top of my rock work fairly close to the surface. He's getting full light there and liking it.

He won't be in that tank under that light for long though. I'm currently working on a 180 gallon build. I've already bought 4 OceanRevive T247's that will be lighting that tank.
