Pics of my setup...built a new canopy

I have been working on a canopy for the last few weeks and finally have it completed. It's made from pine 1x4 and the doors are made from 3/4" plywood. All paint was applied with a brush. I will be painting the stand and bottom trim to match the canopy. I'm also going to have matching hardware (hinges and handles) on the bottom as well.

The canopy is 25" tall and is open top. I have Dual 250 watt hqi and 2x110 watt actinic mounted in it for lighting. I have 5 120 mm computer fans blowing in from the back and exhausting from the top. Yesterday was the first full day it's been set up and the temp stayed at 80. 3 of the 5 fans are the blue LED computer fans. They make absolutely awesome nightlights! There are 4 LEDs per fan that can be aimed to highlight watever critters you want.

Here's the canopy:

Man tall canopies are soooo much easier to work with than the silly 7" and 10" stock ones. Looks really good.

Here's the fans I bought

APEVIA CF12SL-UBL 120mm Blue LED Case Fan

I'm powering them with a 12 volt, 1,000 mili amp (ma) transformer. These fans use 33 ma each and are very easy to wire to any 12 volt dc transformer provided you don't exceed the amperage rating.

The LED lights are mounted to the housing using hot glue. Simply pop the hot glue off with your fingernail, pull the LED out of the housing, and point to where you want it.

I'll take a few pics tonight.

God bless,
Basset

Chris -
Looks awesome! I like the routered edges on the doors.
Can you post a pic of the inside of the canopy? I'm curious how you mounted the lights and fans.

Thanks everyone.

I have the lights suspended from a 1x3 that rests on a couple of rails at the top of the canopy. The 1x3 isn't mounted to anything...just rests on the two rails on the ends of the canopy so that removing the lights wouldn't entail removing the entire canopy from the tank.

The doors were pretty simple. I used a nice piece of 3/4" plywood (man that stuff is expensive) and finished the edges out with 1/4 round trim. I didn't have to route the doors although ends of the canopy were routed for recessed panels.

I'll see if I can get some pics of the inside...

God bless,
Chris

Here's a few more pics:

In this pic you can see the rail that the lights are suspended from. The black chain is holding up one side of my VhO's:

Here's one of the fans I'm using. See how you can aim the LEDs where you want them:
