Pics of my tang bully trio

This is 3 of the 5 tangs I have planned for the 270. They get along fine after some initial bickering but any one new better be ready for some seriouse hazing from thease guys. I added a scribbled rabbit fish Monday and they were pretty bad to him for a few days. He was swimming with the pack tonight scrapes and all. He must have earned there respect because they were all freindly acting tonight to him.

And this is a close up of my blue spotted kole while he was in QT. He is pretty neat but seems a little meaner than a average kole.

We need to call the tang police, one two many tangs....just joking, but you do need to wipe the water stain off your glass, Angela. LOL Nice pics and tangs

I need to do a ton more than just wipe the glass down sadly! I have been letting things slowley get away from me. I am breaking down everything but the 29 zoa tank and the 270 so maybe it will not be so overwhelming soon. I got the kole from SWfish.com and so did DMbillies. I also got my frednaini (sp?) from them and he is awsome! And very lucky. When I drained the 80 I went to feed Hanna and came back to a empty tank and a few fish in the yard! I had the drain tube a lot lower in the tank than I thought and they took a wild ride to the front yard. I found the pink fish fast enouph and he is fine but the little yellow gobie didn't make it. I overlooked him for about 10 minutes. He blended in with the dirt and leaves.

Angela, your spotted kole looks great. What are the other two you are going to add? The spotted kole that Brian and I got from that order sadly wasn't around for long enough to bully anybody else in the tank. We're pretty sure he was the outbreak monkey that took out most of our tank since he was the last guy in the pool. You win some, you lose some...

Oh What happened to your all's tank? Mine was undiseased but I hypoed him right off as precaution. I have learned my lessons on not QTing.

Don't be surprised if the tangs continue to beat up ont he Scribble Rabbitfish. It'll be fine, but mine harassed my Ptang (always wanted to be where the Ptang was and the Ptang didn't like that so he broke out the scalpel numerous times). he always healed quickly and never looked like it was getting infected. Watch your Rabbitfish, though. I know it is in a small percentage, but mine devoured zoas after a few months in the tank (and still had plenty of algae to graze)...

Angela- Just about a month after we got the tang it got what looked like Ich. We couldn't get her out of the tank, so our options were very limited. She ended up dying and taking a shortly after taking a bunch of our others with her. I had reasoned, before I put her into my big tank, that she might not do well in a quarantine (no algae, very small tank, etc.), that she looked very healthy, and, because she was the most expensive fish we had bought, that the risk was worth it. I must have been wrong on all counts...

I have definitely learned my lesson. What I haven't learned is a good procedure for doing hypo (I only quarantine). When you get time, can you run down how you do it?

Gary, what does the P in front of the tang stand for? Poon ?

OK guys! Get your minds out of the gutter!
I keep a sponge filter going in the sump and some biorings in a mesh bag for instant bio. When I need a QT I just fill it with tank water ( a mini water change for the main) and get it going. I have a variety of plastic decor for hideing spots. I droped the SG in the tank on the fish we got over a few days but have since dropped all new guys in the 1.09 SG right from the LFS bag. You just adjust PH in the tank to match the bag and dump them in. That way Ick has no chance if they happen to be carrying it. I hate that happened! Mine never showed signs of ICK but he was in Hypo from the start. He was very, very shy for a few weeks. And took a lot of work getting her to take prepared foods. I think a low stress QT is best for them sometimes. You still have to watch out for Velvet which is unaffected by hypo among other nasties :(.

Good news is that they are easy to catch. I know, I know, you'd have to stay up late one night (I know how you have to have your 10 hours a night;)). They are sleep floaters. You just have to find where they sleep and wait for it to happen and scoop them out slowly. No stress and it took me less than five minutes on the first try. Not even worth trying when it's awake. I hope it behaves for you. I've known of several who have had them and had no problems.

Thanks Chris and I didn't know that about them Gary!
I just thought I was going to bed early last night and brushing my teeth it hit me to get the bathroom hand mirror and look down the overflow for a missing baby GSM. And wouldn't you know it there he was! After about 45 mins of chaseing in a crazy small overflow with big durso pipes I just drained the overflow and scooped him right up. It was a super pain as I have to litterally crawl through a door on the hood to get back there with my feet hanging out. Then I watched to see if the female would be mad he was gone for 2 days and I ended up falling asleep in the chair! She did seem to be punishing him a little for deserting her. But they are fine this morning. I hope the black clown that was harassing them calms down soon. This may be why he jumped in the overflow to begin with.

Tang police.. NAW.. yes, they can be very very dirty, but I see no issue with 3 of them. I have 2 in my 75 and have had up to 3 at one time... nice looking fish there angela. Love that spotted kole and the PDB.
