Pics of the dart tank

mhills16, i wouldnt consider it too difficult.....considering everyone here owns a reef tank and we know much work that can take ......upkeep is fairly straight forward....with the major factors being, feeding them well and keeping a humid environment.... sure there's a bunch of extra gadgets you could purchase to add to the tank, but it really isnt necessary (humidifiers, foggers, water features, misting systems) ....whereas in a reef tank...weekly/bi-weekly maintenance, top offs, establishing good water flow, water testing....there's much more work in my opinion to keep our corals/fish alive

dont get me wrong though, i love both of my hobbies!!!....my frog addiction just doesnt hit the wallet as hard....believe me my RODI unit cost more than setting up the tank including the cost of the frogs

yea...your right chris...some of those guys can get expensive but im sure most new hobbyist would stay away from them.....i just think as a whole, this hobby is a lot cheaper

I agree John as a whole it is cheaper. But you can get into some money with frogs. misters and multiple tank setups

nice!...i was think about those too ....might be my next darts since a 55 gallon would house a group of them nicely

Can't go wrong with leucs. Hardy, colorful and they breed easily. They sound great when the lights come on. Like a bunch of little canaries. My male is a little horn dog. He chases a female leuc, an auratus and an azureas all day long.

Man, All I can say is WOW! I went over to CK's house last night and was absolutly blown away by his frog tanks! I Ssooo can't wait to get one up! It was every bit as neat as a reef IMO. The cube he is working on is the bomb. For some reason it didn't look near as nice on line in pics as in person.

I need to finnish the other million half finnished projects before I start the frogs though.

Thanks for the kind words Angela. These have been alot of fun to learn about. In regards to reef tanks I think it is pretty cool. You are trying to create a natural enviroment just like you do in a reef. But in the long run there is not as much equipment to buy. IE: no skimmers, halides, testing equipment, chemicals, etc.

Yea, thats why I am broke! We are typical americans and overbuilt thinking Corys company was doing SO good! His buisness is directly tied to the housing market since he devolops and builds mostly townhomes and renovates low income parts of Nashville for the homeowners who were getting the "sub-prime" loans so who knows... We may be selling our dream home soon with the economy mess!!! I bet his market group will not be getting loans any more! But even in the higher end stuff he does it is scary and buyers who have deposits down on units are wanting to back out and walk away.

Alls Good.. We have to have faith ;). And if we ended up having to sell its just less to vacume the way I look at it!

On a froggy note, CK's wife is gonna work on my 37 tall for me and They are helping me get my frog tank built sooner rather than later. I am pretty excited about getting them!

So..I'm going to tag along on this. I've just brought my 10G up to school with me that use to house Mantella's. I'm actually thinking of getting a small group, however it seems nowhere up here can get them. However, the Dendro's seem alot easier to come by but that also includes a much steeper price. Is there anywhere around the Murfreesboro area that any of you know could get me a few certain species such as M. expectata, M. madagascariensis and some few others. However, if the price of the arrow frogs is about the same I wouldn't mind caring for them. As far as I can recall (it's been a few years) they have similar care requirements?

After seeing those frogs at the swap yesterday, I'm quite intrigued on getting into this as well. I've started reading up on it some more. I'm being told I have to wait until I get a bigger reef tank to consolidate my corals and fish. Plus have to finish re-modeling projects first before I can get into it....

Mikeyjer, there is NOBODY that has more unfinished projects than yours truely! ;) We just need to put thing in a list of whats more important, having what we want RIGHT NOW or finnishing what we have already started!

Seriously, if Ck's wife wasn't building my tank for me and they are babysitting my 4 frogs I wouldn't have gotten them right now. I have read and been told they are much easier and every bit as rewarding as reef tanks. Not to mention cheaper. I love plants anyways and the idea of having a living rainforest in a box is very appealing!
