Pics of the progress

10ks are more white than the 65ks but they are still a little on the yellow side. i have 2 10ks and 1 18k bulb in my t-5s and if i turn off the actinics, and leave just those on it looks kinda yellow to me.

J. I think the absolute best in term of getting the corals to look good -- plus growth is a 10K light with true actinic t-5 or VHO's as well. Chad's tank looks super with that combo.

Haha....pe pe in your tank...

Well the 2 just shipped out today so I'll see how well it looks when they get here.

Color all depend on what lighting you are using. 10k PC look totally different to 10k 250watt Single ened MH. The best growth is a 6700k IMO but look like crap. For me I like the deeper look and 12k 175MH has been great move for me. Next I will try 15k par busters like josh has on his tank.

Here is a recent shot of my tank with my newest bulbs. 2 x 175W MH (Iwasaki 15k), no supplemental lighting.

Ade makes a good point though, 10k PC lights are not "yellow" like 10k MH bulbs. I had a 4 x 65W PC fixture for a while, I like the 10k bulbs just fine. A friend of mine now has that fixture and she uses 4 x 10k bulbs on her freshwater planted tank. It looks good.

Thanks for the pic Josh, your tank always looks a lot bigger than a 55. Can not wait to get those bulbs. Tank looks sweet.

Thanks guys.....maybe one of these days I will add a MH fixture to the canopy. These corals could definitely use some extra light for more growth.

Thanks for the compliments. You know what they say, to make the tree look taller you gotta trim the hedges

Here is the full tank shot as of now with more base rock added and the aquactinics I got from Sam

I guess when I can save up a little more cash. I heard they were having layoffs here at work but they may be done so the scare is over. I may start looking around here really soon for one after x-mas or so

That is a cool fish but needs to be in a large system around 150+ gallons. Also get aggressive as it gets older. You might get the grunt police knocking on your door for that one. The store should have told you about that before you purchased it.

ktnjer,

I would recommend picking up a copy of Marine Fishes (A Pocket Expert Guide) by Scott W. Michael. It's a good book, and will help prevent any questionable impulse purchases or helps out when a store doesn't provide an adequate recommendation. I know it has for me at least...

According to the Harlequin Sweetlips Entry:
Maximum Length: 28.3
Minimum Tank Size: 175-200 gals.
Rating: Difficult to Feed as Juvies, and a semi-delicate species

Hmm.....I guess it gives me a reason to upgrade...

It is a beautiful fish Vet!

I just don't understand the logic where someone says "The inhabitants only grow to the size of their surroundings?"

I bought this fish out at UA yesterday and asked if it was reef safe. They read from the book that it may get snails and such but not really a coral picker, so i decided to get him. Never said anything about size.

I've heard alot of opinions on varying fish and corals that are good and bad, but once upon doing my own evaluation, they have turned out to be cool with their tank mates and corals.

Not saying I refuse to accept what you guys tell me because it is very helpful in what to watch out for as it progresses. I do heed warnings along the lines of clowns, damsels, and mandarins, and I am still scared of mandarins to this day of what happened before and my pod population is quite large now, but i do still abide by those warnings as I have experienced some.

That sweetlips was moving just like a clown and looked very graceful and not all cracked out like a damsel or anything of that sort. If it gets bigger, just keep me in mind of larger tanks because i will be needing one soon! Plus this sweetlips....whatta name....it does take to the brine with spirulina, mysis, and flake food. So it does eat pretty well.

Oh the addiction of this hobby...I thought tattoos were bad!

Thanks for the heads up though!
