I was using hi2 - 25600 iso in most of my practice pictures.

ISO and EXPEED 4
Sensitive is up from 6400 on the D5200 to a full 12,800–extendable to 25,600 in Hi2 mode. The EXPEED 4 process should help keep images clean in low light. It can also sustain up to five frames per second in burst mode, supports subject tracking, handles white balance, AF, and exposure care of the integrated RGB metering sensor, and has 16 dedicate scene modes with nine creative filters–including (but not limited to) modes like HDR and Toy Camera.

I am going to have to try some higher iso shots now. But not tonight lol too tired.

Yea - the high Iso and F10 Aperture on the peach milli results in that "glare" or over brightness - it washes out the details where the light is the strongest.

I know you want to keep as natural a look as possible though - which is tough with those bright areas.

A lower ISO will darken the pic (less time for exposure).

Thats why I take my pics in raw with auto-white balance in the camera settings. Then I take it to Adobe Lightroom and adjust the highlights, shadows, and noise and such

Are these (basically) pics of the same chalice (one from your frag tank and one from your display)?

Another parameter to play with is spot metering. I have it set to take the light (and focus) reading just in the very center of the pic and not a large area. That way a dim or bright area just outside of the intended subject doesn't add or take away exposure light intensity.

Yup I used spot metering on all these pictures
