Picture files

If you're using Windows XP, I think there's a tool you can download for free from Microsoft.com that works very easily. All you have to do to use the software is right click the file name, select "resize picture" and tell it the new size. It'll save a duplicate copy in the same file folder.

Save the picture. Open up MS Paint and open the picture inside MS Paint. Go to top left and click "file". Select "save as". A new box will open and will show your picture with the file name you have given it (you can rename it to distinguish it from the original)and a choice of formats. I choose JPG. Click save and your done.

Ok... somehow just resaving it like you said reduced file size from 2.05 MB to 631 KB. Still, to get the file size under 50 KB I had to reduce the size 81% and ended up with this...

Is that a normal level of reduction for a file of that size? I've seen a lot of pics on here that ended up larger than that. Did they just start out as smaller files?

depends on the resolution of the pic. anything you post online should be 72dpi, since computer monitors only show 72dpi resolution.
