Picture of clownfish babies: Flow question?

These babies hang out on the side of the tank. Is that ok or should they be swimming around?

Thats normal IMO mine group up the same way reguard less of flow, I can have five different pvc fittings for them and 50 in one with none in the others

I know its a little off topic but is that your first try at raising clowns if so you did pretty well getting that large of a number to make it that far. I have only tried to raise a few batches is only 10-30 make it. I'm still trying to figure it out.

Maybe I turn up the flow a little bit more for them to swim around more. I am going to add a sponge or HOB filter or maybe both. Not sure yet.

Jay- Thanks for the kind words. Yes it's my first batch. So far so good. I am totally excited with results so far. I have spent almost 2 years reading books, following other breeders threads, watching "how to" You Tube videos and making my own notes of what each breeder does. I am just following their examples. I don't think I am doing anything special but I am officially out of room. Their 3rd nest hatched 2 nights ago and by my records they are on a 9 day cycle. I don't want to have to not collect a batch. Maybe I can buy a shelf system at the hardware store or build a little rack so I can hold more tanks. I see now how this can quickly get out of hand :)

Ya I was hopping to have that problem. I am only getting about 20-30 per patch and Im not sure why. So I just keep adding the babies until I fill the tank.

I have also been reading a lot of books and forums along with watching the you tube videos. Im not sure what I am doing different but I'm sure I will figure it out soon.

When do you start putting in additives to remove the ammonia, and what level have you been able to keep your ammonia level at safely?

I am sure you will get lots of babies soon too. What is your pair laying the eggs on and how are you collecting babies?
As for additives I don't add anything at all to the water. I have read of people doing all sorts of stuff but my philosophy is jut to keep it as simple as possible. All I do is siphon the bottom of the 10g tank every morning before work and then slow drip water from parent tank to replace what I took out. I also add green water to the slow drip at the same time. I hope I explained that correctly. Let me know if you have any questions. I am by far no expert but I am willing to share what works for me :)

Thanks and I do understand what you are saying. Maybe I will try to keep it a little simpler next time as well. This time I ran out of rots so thats easy enough to explain.

My pairs are both laying inside of a small pot. I am able to get nearly 100% to hatch but by the next morning I have already lost half of them. This last time I turned down the airflow after they hatched and I didn't lose as many so there was some improvement.

Thanks for your info. I try to take a little from everyone.

I was using the rotigrow plus then I added cholram-x in itbit not having any survivals I am going to try the RG Complete since it has them already mixed plus a buffer in it. I will be ordering my bottle tomorrow and start feeding the rotifers before hatch night which might br on Friday night.

That sounds like a good plan. I have not used the RG Complete but I have heard a lot of good feedback. Good luck with it and let me know how it works out.
