New to taking pictures in my aquarium. Was wondering what kind of settings to use to get the best looking pics.

Thoughts????

Not to be a jerk, but there are all kinds of threads about what you need to do in order to take good aquarium pictures... read through a couple pages of this forum and you'll have all kinds of great ideas to try.

Yeah...well obviously i didnt find them yet. There are hundreds of questions asked on this forum everyday that someone else has asked a million times also. So yeah, you are kind of being a jerk...i do believe this forum is for sharing.......

You don't have to look very far. If you look at the stickied thread at the very top of this forum you'll find alot of the information you'll need. Here is a link to it to help you out: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=333197

Most of the time we would like to see you make an attempt at taking a photo, sharing it with the group (see sticky for info on how to upload photos for sharing) and then we can provide some critique on how you can improve.

Mmmmmm, maybe you and I think forums perform different functions... in my mind, a forum isnt a place created so that 100 people a day can ask "hey, how do I take a picture?" and fill the front page with that. If everyone used the forum for that, there would almost be no use in visiting the forum as nothing but the very basic basic questions would ever be answered.

I think of forums as a place made so that someone can ask a question, get a good answer and have that answer stored for all to see, that way someone can come along and find an answer without it having to be asked over and over and over again. It's a pretty user friendly system that can meet the needs of a wide range of experience in the hobby.

As for you not finding your answers yet, you honestly just cant have looked very hard... even the sticky at the top of the page, the very first link you see when you load up the page... has lots of helpful information about your question.

STOP.......I thanked two other members for their advice and help. There are thousands of RC members...which means thousands of thoughts on what these forums are for. Most just point you in the direction, however obvious in a polite manner. Happy Reefing

This thread was two spaces under yours, just saying:

Post any (specific) questions here and we will be happy to answer them. Very vague questions do get a little repetitive though. Shew, it's a lot of typing!

Your origional question could easily be reworded from:
"New to taking pictures in my aquarium. Was wondering what kind of settings to use to get the best looking pics.

Thoughts????"

To:
New to my aquarium. Was wondering what kind of fish to put in my 55g aquarium. I was thinking about some sort of tang.

Thoughts????

I'm going to be honest, I saw this thread the day it was posted and skiped it.

This is my standard answerer for these threads:

You don't have a question at all. There is nothing here for us to answer. The settings to use will depend much more on your tank than your camera. I don't know what size your tank is...what is in it...how bright are your lights? Is this a FOWLR? I dunno. There are too many variables to tell you what settings are best. Nobody can do that but you.

If you post some pictures with EXIF attached, then we can see whats going on.

You need to put [ img ] and [ /img ] around that link.

Take the spaces out though between the brackets and the img. I just have to post it with spaces or it will think it is code and not display it for you.

There is actually a link in photobucket that contains that exact coding... I took a screenshot of mine to help illustrate the concept to you.

You can just cut and paste that link into your post and it will show the picture.

I'm really not a jerk :P When you ask a decent question, I'm plenty willing to help you.
