MiniBow Madness

MiniBow Madness

Been cranking on the MiniBow7 in the last couple of weeks. Got some new frags in place and added a fish. It's starting to look pretty smooth, now I need to just wait for it to grow out.

looking really nice CWebHokie. Like the fish, mine try to clean my hand everytime I'm in the tank.

Love the black sand, how do you keep it so clean?

Thanks, the sand is a PITA but it looks cool so I deal with it. I just use a piece of 1/4 inch food grade tubing to siphon the snail poo from the sand. Using such a small tube you don't suck up much sand and its a small tank so it doesn't take long.

matt, that monti is crazy lookin'!

eric, that minibow is lookin sweet. what lighting do you have over it?

i got a new camera over xmas...finally can take some decent pics...haven't had much practice though as i've been in atlanta this past week.

It's just an 18 W power compact, it's a little bit dim but verything appears to be happy and I am already seeing some polyp growth. So I guess it is sufficient.

my vote is still in for "Fuzzymodo" but "Polyps-McGee" is pretty cool too. Definitely a sweet frag.

well, since you paid for it, you get nicknaming rights.. so fuzzymodo it is...

especially since it's an acro, that makes it doubly crazy looking :)...

the guy we got it from said it was a millie. at first i thought he thought we were pointing to the one next to it which clearly was a millie, but i blew down the polyps again last night and sure enough it's starting to get millie corallites under all that fuzz. i didn't believe him mostly because every millie i've seen with polyps that happy had 1 tentacle much longer than the rest.

i was there on the 29th and it was pretty crowded. i heard it was pretty ridiculous on the 30th...

how was your experience there? did you take the behind the scenes tour?

it was ridicously crowded! i didnt take the behind the scenes tour because we had alot of driving to do and verybad weather conditions

yeah, the first 150miles of pouring down rain on the way home was pretty bad.

next time i plan to go to the georgia aquarium, i will make sure it is when public school is not on a break. ;)

after seeing 2 small kids yack all over the floor (motion sickness i guess...), along with a group of inner city kids going for a round of WWF in the hallways, and all the screaming and yelling of kids/babies...i just gave up trying to jockey for a position to take pictures of everything. too afraid someone would hit my new lense or something.

i guess i was a tad irritated with the crowds after driving from 12am-6am, then getting to the aquarium around 8am thinking we had beat the big crowds....ha, boy was i wrong! but it was then or bust, figured it would be much worse on the 30th/31st/1st

the behind the scenes tour made it all worth it though. i would do it again in a heart beat just to get more time looking over the lagoon at the reef tank exhibit.

finally started messing around with some RAW images on the camera so i can crop them and zoom in so it looks like a macro shot (i only have the kit lense). they have a little bit of noise though that makes them look fuzzy or something. probably something i did by mistake before converting it.
