Pictures of Complete Tunze Systems

Does anyone out there have pictures from several angles, of a system that uses all Tunze equpiment. I want to see how it looks from the front of the tank.

Which system? I have a few cabinet kits and a Comline set in use. My Comline sets are on my plant tanks so no skimmer would be present. I could likely get some photos in the next couple days.

I'm not as familiar as I need to be with all the equipment. I'm thinking of the in-tank stuff. I guess I'd like to see the cabinet equipment as well. I'm thinking of having a tank with all Tunze equipment and want to see what it looks like.

I think this is because of the wave box, and my personal interest reciently in Tunze. And I like saying Tunze.

This is a picture of my plant tank at home. It is a 180 and the filter is a Comline 3167 powered by a Turbelle 3000/2 with a 3155 Osmolator installed. I also use 2 Biohydroreactors 3179. The mechanical filters filter almost as fine as a diatom filter and with an optional basket you can use crabon, zeolith or phosphate remover. The Biohydroreactors are a trickle denitrator and they work extremely well. I do almost no water changes on my marine tanks and they have 4 mg/l or less of Nitrate. To make this set up for marine tanks you would add a skimmer.

That would be what is referred to as a System kit? And the dimensions on the website are in Metric. It says 72cm which is 3.3'. I'm not sure if I have three feet of open space on the back of my tank without removing a cross brace. How deep in the water does that go? 4"?

I'm getting excited.

The filter shown is Comline which is easier to use than System. System will slowly be phased out as it is more than 30 years old. It was a neat filter but a bit complicated and it's wide profile obstructed light.

Ah... Thanks. That clears that up. It looks like it extends about 12" or 13" deep and about 6" from the back of the tank. Would you say that's accurate?

Is that plant take using a Comline Kit or a Comline filter with everything else added to it? One of the reasons I'm asking is because I'm having a hard time finding this equipment online for purchase.

edited: I found where you can get the seperate items. The issue is that the kit has everything you need. I don't want to buy the seperate items and be missing a braket or something.

It is a modular system and I would buy the seperate items. I prefer to customize the filters, for example I would use less mechanical filtration and a bigger skimmer. What size tank are you working on. I could help you with a complete list.

Well, I'm thinking about putting it on a 125. It may be fish only and I may turn it into a reef tank. I don't mind over doing a fish only. I was thinking the Comline filter, a Bio-hydroponic reactor, and a skimmer(3130/2). I'll get an osmolator as well.

What type of powerhead should I get on it?

I would consider the Reefpack, it kind of maxes out at that size and you may have to change the cartridge alot but it works really well. Otherwise a 3167, a Biohydroreactor and a 3130/2 should do a superb job. Use the 7400/2 to run the filter and then one Stream added to that should provide great flow. The only small parts you will need is a few 3000.244 sets for mounting the filters, some of these kits I have don't include these yet and then you need part 3176.71 which is like a backward venturi that feeds water from the filter to the denitrator. In this manner the cartridge debris is the carbon source for the denitrator.

Thank you for the help. I'll look into both of these options. My 125 is an AGA tank with a plastic border on the top. Will I have to cut this to mount these or will one of the TS mounting bracket or univeral mounting clamps work?

Who are the major online retailers of Tunze equipment? I've only seen Marine Depot and Premium aquatics.

Edited: I think the 3000.244 is a mounting bracket. Would this fit an AGA tank without cutting the plastic?

I'm sorry I'm so full of questions.
How do you tell how high the water has to be on a Comline skimmer? I may throw one on my other tank to try it out in the sump.

For AGA you can use the included hardware on the reefpack, some seperate components may require 3000.244 holder sets. The TS bars and brackets are for System filters and not applicable here. Champion Lighting also carries our products.

The Comline skimmers need 10- 11" of water. For a rough guide their is a mark on the side of the Comline components.
