Pictures of Ricordea in the ocean Part 2

great pics... looks like you had some amazing visibility. how deep was that? i was diving out of ft lauderdale/deerfield beach earlier this month and visibility was pretty poor in anything above 50 ft. but of course, still better than any diving i would get out here in northern california!

I personally thank you for the resurection! I had not seen these before and am blown away with how beautiful. I wish there were more!!

Sorry to ask a newbie question, but it looks like those rics are growing on sand? Can you grow rics on sand in aquariums? BTW, please post more pics! I would love to create a biotope tank like freshwater tanks, but can never find an resources that go in to big descriptions or pics!

oh there are plenty of biotope reefs. just search a certain type you are looking for (i.e. barrier reef, mangrove, shallow reef, etc.).

If you do post more pics, could you take some farther away to get some landscape shots? I'm settng up my tank as this same habitat (Indo Pacific though) and would like to get some ideas on aquascaping as nature does it.

sorry to resurect such an old thread but where in big pine do you live?

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't checked this forum lately, didn't realize my old thread was resurected. We are in Port Pine Heights.

They are not really growing on sand, there is hard substrate right under them, same with the zoas.

Wow, wow, wow, wow!! You are an excellent photographer. I already loved ricordea, but this really makes me think of them differently.

Thanks!

Nice goin, guess those things really do grow in deep water.

I could probably put mine under a ledge in my mh tanks

Thank you very much! That is exactly what I wanted! Wow, your so lucky to able to find such a nice dive site, in Florida ( I hear the reefs are rapidly declining there), right out "your backyard"! Once again, thank you very much! But keep posting pics!
If this isn't already stickied, it should be.
