GSM Pair with their anemone
photo-25.jpg

Has anyone ever seen an anemone sleep like this? It does this every night with the female GSM sleeping under it (you can kind of see her face in the second picture) and then every morning it's back up and doing great.

This is where the male sleeps, he actually likes to lay down. :hmm5:

Will her stripes fill in? She is TB, so we know she is around 3-3.5 years old.

Our newest neighbor-who came right up to our front door to say Hi.

Everytime I get the camera out, my Midas comes out and continuously swims back and forth across the tank! So here is her (?) picture.

This is my little green anemone that the male plays in during the day. The female spent a whole day trying to get into it, but it is too close to the glass for her to fit.

My favorite little lawnmower blenny. I'm not sure which one he is, but he's cute!

Wait till you see what I am getting tomorrow! In case anyone wants to worry about the blenny's being in the smaller tank, please know that they are only there while I finish up my other tanks. I am also going to be drilling a 56g with a closed loop to move the GSM and all their anemones too. I live in constant fear of one of them moving and getting stuck in a powerhead. :eek2:

The first picture almost looks like a mini carpet anemone but dont take my word on that. As for the second picture I have no clue. :-)

It isn't acting like an anemone. I'm wanting to say that is one of the mushrooms, but has bleached. There are two more on the same rock that look like it, but are pink. It came on a rock I bought and has been just fine, even with no color. It curls up around food, but hasn't moved an inch.

The stuff in the second picture was no where to be seen till a couple of weeks ago, and now they are getting all over the rock.

First pic, bleached ric? corilimorph maybe?
Second pic, looks like xenia to me.

That's kind of what I was thinking about in the first picture. I'll try to get a better picture tomorrow of the stuff in the second picture. It looks soft, if that makes any sense, and I think they are all separate and coming out of tubes. But they do not withdraw like feather dusters.

The first is almost certainly a bleached ric. Give it some light (don't blast it) and it will come back. The second pic looks like the same stuff I have growing in my tank in a place or two. They're invasive and it's best to remove them. They're some sort of polyp/hydroid thing.

I was thinking they were beginning to become a little invasive. They are spreading all over the rock and have completely surrounded one of the smaller mushrooms. Any suggestions on the best way to remove them?
I also have a rock with some bubble algae on it, what is the best way to get rid of it. So far it is all on one rock so I want it gone before it spreads.

Kayce,

First pic is definately 2 yuma's. The little one still is mostly pink. The larger one has streaks of color left. As said above, good light (and feed) and patience and color will return.

As for your invasive growth--- mixture of tank water and hydrogen peroxide in a tupperware bowl. Put in the rock and let it fiz for several minutes. Wash off with tank or tap water. If that doesn't kill it increase the time in the bath or the concentration of peroxide.

I'll have to hold it in the mix because the invasive growth is on the same rock as the ric's. It actually has one of the small ones totally surrounded. :headwally:
Anyone know of anything that might eat it?
