Pictures to share

I think it was just a new rock thing....odd as it sounds I think it is that "algae cycle" I was talking about and it will play out very quickly with this new rock as it becomes born again. Its on its way out currently. Maybe, I shouldn't have took most of the snails and hermits out and placed them in my nano cube.

Truth be told, I am shifting my focus and going to the more high end to down right crazy rare SPS stuff. I plan on clearing out a bunch, I am not planning on getting rid of that one, because even if I did get it from you......it one of my favorites......I fondly refer to it as Justins Blue tipped acro to any that asks about it. Good find on that one buddy....goes to show everyone gets luckly now and then!!!! My piece is mid way up directly under a 250w MH.....Probably what I love the best is the symetrical growth it has had....nearly a mirror of itself resembling deer antlers.

I am running RowaPhos in a reactor, but agree with you and probably need to add more or change more often......I use the algae and green tinge on the SPS base as an indicator.

Ive been sitting for the past half hour wondering bout your situation.ME<--geek. Now Im not so convinced that its phosphates, moreso really on the fence with a few ideas. In my case I innitially thought of that because when I was experiencing that I had every macro and micro algae under the sun in my tank, sexing the whole nine. But also during that time was running a different kelvin of lamp as well as experiencing some color shifting. So then I thought possibly something goin on with your lighting? What spectrum are you using? And how old is the bulb? That is my biggest challenge withMH, is its very hard to actually witness a color shift because it's so gradual but the bad thing is you only have that one light source for mid size tanks so. But you very well could be right and they just werent getting enough food, Im very happy with the results Im getting from using roti-feast, all my sps respond to it (cept for the montipora) and every other coral I have as well, most universal food, I love it so do the blue green chromis.

Anyway who knows, I know I dont :D
Speaking of phosphates, I know the second I take out my ROWA Im in trouble :D Been pullin and pokin bubble algae for the past few weeks, and finally starting to thwart there numbers, but it's gonna be a long road Im thinkin.

On another rant, EVERYONE Seio 1100's and seahairs do NOT mix! Bought one a last month or so and did not survive my attempt of surgical rescue. A lot of ink and "why God, why?!'s I now just pulled off my second attempt from the dam powerhead, they draw to them like stink on poop, it kills me. Not even mentioning the few snails and 1 mexican turbo...If I wasnt short on funds I would no longer use it. The 620's are cool but the bigger ones, watch yer critters!

Oh the bulbs are 14K Ushio not more than 4 months old....and are DEs so plenty life left in em.

The ONLY place were this little bit of algae popped up was on the new baren rock that I added recently. The only place that alqae will grow in mine is on the front glass which is barren as well.....on the back and side, were there are more "advanced" algae such as coraline.....the little bits of hair do not grow out of competition........since the corraline is growing on the new rocks......it isn't growing and is disappearing. Though the new sailfin tang helps I am sure.

I was suprised at some of my stuff, I have had it over a year and not much growth at all.....now I have heard of slow growers....but come on!!!.....

I was just reading my corals wrong, what I thought was just right wasn't enough food. I felt really bad when some of the corals I gave John recently that looked great in mine began to REALLY go brown......I felt bad about trading them to him.......it is the same thing as with the Valida you have, just because its brown doesn't mean it has too many nutrients as I thought.......it could mean too little. The acro below looks cool in my tank.....tan with bright purple tips, (way better than the pic), leading me to believe that is the true color, if not a little nutrient rich to the tan coloration of the base........after a month that same coral at John is now green based with purple tips......I am frying mine, forcing the color out of them and starving them.....which makes sense this very same coral I have had for over a year, and yours has shown more growth % increase than mine........

So yes, there is too much of a good thing.....my tank is currently nutient poor.

No problem at all, speaking of food. I noticed more algae growth in my system when I stopped feeding phyto or roti's. Think because I wasnt feeding and stimulating my filter feeders and pods which were keeping the nuiscent algaes in check. But if you want to feed your acros, you gotta try the rotifeast, really amazing stuff.

Wonder if thats the deal with that acro I gave you. Sounds like its the same thing. I have seen some pretty pronounced blueing in the stalks but base is suppose to be a forest green. Can you post a pic of that here as well?

I have been trying to get a good pic that shows the coloration of that thing for you, but it is always washed out because of the light directly on it and the angle taken......I will try to do that for you tommow though and see what we can get....its really blue at the tips with fading along the body, but the coralites are the olive color that you mention.
Here is a recent one that is washed out and is not an accurate representation.

I use the DTs Phyto.....the large one and have been dosing very liberaly with it lately......coloration and growth has increased greatly.

Substantial amount of growth there Doug :) But we have to talk about that milli you got up at the top there off to the right ;) Wouldnt happen to be a purplish color would it? I ended up losing that lil green milli you gave me, kicked myself a good one for that, just didnt get the time to mounting it before it rolled into something. Sux having the itch with not very much room :(

looking good, both of you :)

Justin, you could always buy my current 92g corner tank for more space :). nice small footprint.. sits in the corner and really adds to a room :). Never know.. could do a partial trade for frags too :D Not sure what is keeping that 110g in your garage.. is it space ? or time ?

Both of those plus the money factor ;) And if I got it up, Id have to figure out what to do with the 30 and 55 :( Seems fortune may be looking up for once though and may move in the near future, hopefully the sooner the better. Then theres gonna be ALL kinds of settin up to do, I have some BIG ideas ;)
