For those of you here that have had your Tampa Bay packages for some time now, I'd love to see some FTS of your systems. just say Divemonster's gorgeous tank.

Would you guys mind sharing with those of us that are just getting started? Perhaps shar a couple pictures and let us know your successes, etc. I never tire of seeing pictures!:)

Sure. Here's one thats a little dated, but same aquascape. I have added a few zoas and things, but basically this is it.

Did you use plumbers epoxy to get your rocks to stay in place?

Noah, your aquascaping is so natural and beautiful. It's almost cheating being a landscaper...LOL...

Very nice noah! I'm also going for the two island effect but mine isn't quite what I want yet.
So did you use super glus to glus your fans and sponges in place? I was wondering about placement of the sponges? whether they should be up on the rock or on the sand bed?
What is the Gorgorian? on the far right of your tank? I have one like it and really like it and wondered what it is exactly?
I see you also have your koralias on the back glass. I may need to move mine.

I did not use any plumbers epoxy to hold the rockwork together except in one place. There is a small wedge in the front right bottom that actually holds the bigger rock from tilting down slightly. Since there is a turkey wing behind it, I was afraid it would nudge it opening and closing, so I connected the two rocks. Other than that, it is just a matter of having a good feel for how rocks go together and an extra set of eyes to give input.

I had huge rocks though, so feel free and use epoxy. It is fairly easy to undo with a screwdriver or small prying tool. It is nice to use even just as a little blob in the joint of a slightly unstable stack. It will really stablize the work.

The gorgonian on the right is a candelabra gorgonian (species ?? have too look it up) All of the gorgs especially the sea fans seem to like pretty decent flow. The sponges seem to like even more. As much as ou can give them. I did epoxy/super glue combo all of the stuff to the rocks. I didn't feel that the sand was a good foothold.

It was a balance of trying to create the right microclimate for each critter and still satisfy my overall vision. I kind of have the mentality that what is meant to be in my tank is meant to be, so I had to work with the rock that came. My only regret is that I don't have a bit more sand real estate out front, but that is my fault for not getting a bigger tank :) There is actually quite a bit of sand around and behing the islands though so it would have been a good layout for a room divider tank.

P.S. Divemonster, your tank is awesome, so don't play the cheater card with me ;)

Haven't been on this thread in a while, but here is my TBS tank as of last week. Ordered the "package" in mid-February.

My tree sponges didn't make it, but that's really all I've lost. The black box at bottom center is a commercial mantis trap I bought that has caught several hermit crabs, snails, etc. but never a mantis shrimp.

That's for posting your tank pic! I never get tired of looking at them.

Sorry you lost your tree sponges. I was thinking of purchasing one of those commercial traps too but heard they don't have a very good success rate at least as far as Mantis are concerned.

Hi noah- so...is Super glue too caustic to use directly on the sponges? I'm having a problem of mine blowing over, falling etc and need to fix them to the rockwork. but I'm not sure whether to use epoxy or super glue and how to best go about it without hurting or buring anything.

Thanks!

It figures! The day I say the trap didn't work, I caught one of my mantis... His name is Larry... and he'll hopefully find a new home at the local public Aquarium...
