Pimafix & Melafix

Does anyone have any experience with these products and what did you think of them. I have no issues, but a fellow reefer had a clown with an infected eye and wasn't able to QT it and as a last minute either lose the fish [swimming on its side] ot try some melafix in his DT, he added some and the next day the fish is swimming and eating. It claims to be reef safe amd even cures flat worms on corals, has anyone used it on AEFW's?? THANKS

they are both good products but i would use in QT if possible but they are reefsafe . dont know about the AEFWs though

This is just my opinion so take it for what its worth. All Reef Safe products are just snake oil. The products you mention smell like some fancy tea tree oil you would use at a massage parlor.....If you have great water quality and feed the fish properly they should be able to bounce back from most things. Now if you introduce something like Velvet to your tank I don't care how healthy the fish are odds are they are doomed. In my opoinion we cause more stress to are aquatic pets by adding all this reef safe crap.....

I agree with most of what both post say. This fish had scratched her eye on a rock, who knows why. The tank is well looked after. It became infected from the scratch and she was on her side and he had no QT. He added some melafix and the fish was swimming upright and eating the next morning. I know that kick-ich and stuff and such mainly just makes things worse, but this actually seemed to work with no side effects. I know it is not going to replace a serious bacterial infection cure, but it is working for this minor infection.
I am interested in others opinions and experiences that have actually used these products. Any one out there??

I was told that Melafix and Pimafix as well as PraziPro were the only good medications. I am currently dosing my fish with these. I hope they live.

ive never tried prazipro in fact i never heard f it.. as for melafix and pima fix i have used them for yrs .. the pima fix isnt worth much without the use of melafix in conjunction.. however for minor things melafix comes in very handy .. i also add this to my tank for each new arrival.. but if you use this in a reef be sure to turn your skimmer off you will bubble over lol...also the use of thes products may tick a few corals and anemones off when first administered but they get used to and have no visible side effects.... i still to this day swear by melafix for as i stated minor things
