pinched mantle parasite

hey everyone. i have been battling with pinched mantle in my tank for about 4 months now. i have lost all but one of my clams who i moved to another tank and did a freshwater dip on and he is looking better. my question is how long does the pinched mantle parasite live in the water of your tank once you have it? i would just like to know other peoples experiences with this disease because i love clams and i would love to have more later down the road. thanks!

i would feel much better if you actually posted pictures of the clam rather than offer information based on your diagnosis.
