Greetings. My lfs has one of the following Pink Knobby Cucumbers (Pentacta Anceps)

http://www.aquacon.com/cucumbers.html

I know from various websites that this Cucumber is considered Reef Safe? What is your Opinion?

Brightly colored cucumbers are usually toxic. Has one of these died in your tank and what was the result?

I have a 140 Gallon Reef Tank.

Thank You for your comments!

i have had mine die, in just a couple hours it melted all my leathers, LPS, and other various inverts, but i had a rather large cucumber in 50g, but i dont think it will have the same effect in ur large tank.

I have two of the pink knobbies - one for almost 2 years and one for about a year. They don't move around much, just hang out at the top of my reef in the most current they can find, filtering the water and stuffing tentacles laden with food down their mouths and pulling them out. It's pretty hard to keep up with their food intake needs long-term, so mine have shrunken some despite my nightly feedings of just about every particulate food- for the benefit of sponges and gorgonians as well. I can't say whether they are poisonous if they die, but I've been told that the pink knobbies are not particularly potent - I hope to never know first-hand.
