just picked this up 2 days ago. I think it's a bubble tip.

This is my first anemone and it's going into SPS tank. I might regret doing this later, but color of this guys is just nice!!!

this guy was only 2" in diameter @ the store but, it's now a good 6"+ in my tank.

Why is that?? is it because my tank may have better condition than the store??

also, my clown fish just host with it today, but, it seems to be biting it.. anything to worry about??

thank

Anemones can change size dramatically by taking in and expelling water. The anemone is bleached, so I suspect it might not have been getting proper care and lighting at the store. Depending on what your lighting is, it may wander until it finds a place it likes, especially if it needs time to adjust to your lights.

Also, especially since the anemone is stressed, I would feed it smaller pieces of food--part of a thawed piece of krill, for example. I was told that it's best to give them food that's no bigger than the anemone's mouth. The jury is out on whether or not it's safe to feed silversides to anemones, but I've had bad experiences with doing so in the past, so I avoid givng them to mine.

Small pieces of krill or thawed mysis would be best. I agree that it is bleached, but given that it still has some color, and that you are providing it with the proper lighting and food, it should recover over time.

It's been in the same place that I placed it from day 1. I fed it with silver side(smaller piece now) and some mysis as well. It also poop as well, so I guess that's a good thing.

I have placed it under 150 watt hqi. Store only had this anemone in few days pior to purchase and they brought two of these in. The other one looks exactly same but smaller.

The clown fish loves so much, I hope it's not putting stress on the anemone.

So, how often should I be feeding it?? Considering it might be bleached and cleaner shrimps have been stealing most of food from it.

Also will it stay pink after color comes back??

Sorry for all the newbie questions

Generally I feed my RBTA's about twice a week with mysis and krill. As for the color, it probably will get darker in color. More than likely it's a RBTA. What I do to prevent my Cleaner shrimp and other livestock from stealing food, I feed the other livestock first and then I feed the anenomes (when I do target feed them).

In my case, an orange RBTA turned pink when it bleached and ejected its zoox, then turned orange again as it reacquired its zoox.

Its normal for clown to nip at the tentacles . If they are pulling and ripping them off than it can become and issues. Since its is bleached I wold feed it about three times a week. and feed it max every other day. try to stay away from silver sides they can somes time have high phosphates. I usually feed raw shrimp or squid. Than my pesky shrimp I have a wooden stick i shoo them away with for a while. Just try your best to get the food close to its mouth.

Randy, How is your anemone doing. What you have is a hot neon pink RBTA, very rare (similar to my avatar). From 20' away, it is glowing pink and stand out from the rest of the tank. I have 4 of them and sold one. What have you been feeding it. All I fed mine are brine shrimp, I want to try something else, but haven't yet. I have three regular RBTA as well (they are regular pinkish orange) and I feed those guys something a little bigger than brine but smaller than Krills. I notice they threw up the Krills when I fed it and I don't feed it Krill anymore. I don't think I want to try silver side either since it is large.

Are these neon pink ones injected with a dye of some sort? Your avatar looks amazing:eek2:, it would be a great addition to my tank. The only reason I ask is because I have never seen something like that.

I would have to disagree with that. I have two species in my tank and they all under the same condition. They are both RBTA, but one is a neon pink, glowing fluorescent pink.

Give it some time, the one in your avatar will change color, provided it gets good light and some food.
