Can anyone give me info on Pink chalice coral. Does it like to be in rockwork or substrate? Low in tank high in tank? Bright light or dim? High currant or low? Ease of care? I just aquired a sizable frag and there is not a whole lot of info availible on this coral that I can find.Thank you for any help you can offer

High flow, low light, I mount mine or keep leave it on the bottom of my tank that doesnt have sand in the front anymore. I target feed the mouths at night when the feeding tentacles come out. Here is a pic

I give mine all kinds of flow, and mostly everywhere is high light. They do best on the bottom, but really like the 400W HQI's. :D They often color better under bluer bulbs, so I suspect they're from deeper waters naturally.

I have a 75g with 2 175w 10'000k (yuk) and 2 40w actinics.I have it now mid tank level. It has only been 24 hours but it is as puffed up as can be and its flesh is overlapping the skeleton pretty far so I can't believe this level of light is bothering it. I have heard that they do well in low to medium high light. One thing that was pretty cool was after the lights went out feeding tenticles appeared from what looked like about 6 mouths!I dusted it with some oyster eggs. The flow on mine is between light and moderate, I don't think I want to move it just yet until I see how it settles in.What ill effects would I see if it is not happy? Thanks for the input for I am not familiar with this coral.

Yup, those are feeders. Beware however - I've seen 'em 6 inches long, and they'll sting the bejeezus out of anything they touch.

Oooooh My. Tell ya what, take your toughest coral, put it 3 inches away. Call me in the morning. ;)

LOL! LPS sweepers/feeding tentacles in general, are very potent (that's what they're for...). I don't know if Echinophyllia sweepers are any stronger than other LPS sweepers, but.. they do pack a punch, and can get several inches long. Something good to know when placing corals, and other corals around this one. ;)

They will destroy anything. The pink one I have the sweeper only extend about half an inch. I have a green one with red tips and the sweepers extend 3-4 inches and destroys an acan. I don't think there are too many corals that would win against a echino.

Old Topic....I know.
But in keeping with the subject, what exactly do you spot feed your Pink Chalices?

Mysis shrimp or Cyclop-eeze is good enough? What else?
