All mine has done is maybe 1/8th inch of vertical and encrusted the hell of the rock its on.
Can i expect vertical growth soon? i have a 1 inch frag and 2 inches of encrusting.

I have the same type of growth pattern. It has mostly encrusted for the past months. However, there are now 3 small branches shooting up as well.

It will give you verticle growth, just give it time. A lot of corals will set down a pretty substantial encrusting base before going up. My frag is doing the same as you have described, I've had it since the end of May. I figure once it is done encrusting it will send up branches. From what I have read this coral grows pretty well.

How long have you had the frag?

I have a new branch or 2 budding, But incredibly slow.
The encrusting though is fast/er. I hope it starts growing though.
Its one tough acro though.
The encrusting is cool though, Lotsa cool pink polyps.:)

It seems like the color of my polyps have faded. I wonder how I can get the pink back? Any ideas?

maximus, you might want to lower it. that happened to mine. i raised my t-5s and the pink came back pretty quickly.

Currently, its situated at about mid level. What color is yours now? Mine looks just like the one Atlantis has. I wish it was greener.

Mine looks like the atlantis one as well. It is greenish yellow with pink polyps. There has been just a tiny bit of vertical growth. lots of encrusting though. Hugo told me to give it alot of flow to bring out the green. Maybe flow is key here to the coloring, even the polyps?

Yep, only t5's on my tank. it is about 3-4 inches off the top of the tank. However, I moved my t5's from 3inches to 6inches above the tank. there is also pretty good flow where it is.

The polyps are more of a light beige now. It just doesn't have the nice pink anymore. It still has the trademark single, long polyp extension though.

Sang,
Mine went more yellow with a bit of fading in the polyps within a month of placing it up high under the MH, it sits about 10" under the lights. I was going to drop it down in hopes of getting the green back and showing off the pink polyps more, then it started to go greener again, maybe something I am adding...I run zeo and have been tweaking some of my additives a bit lately to get the pop out of my colors, colors are great so my tweaking is paying off :). The green is more pronounced and the pink polyps are back. I really don't know what works but I believe Hugo and tubs both said lower light will bring out the green and higher light will promote the yellow base color. I am right in the middle now leaning more toward the green despite having it up high. Do you add any aminos??? that may deepen the colors a bit.

Hi Alicia,
The tank is on a calcium reactor. Nothing else is added. I also have heard that the lower it is, the greener it will get. When I first received the coral, it was greener and the encrustation was blue. That blue is also gone now. I actually preferred the yellow color at first, but now like the green better. The tips on the coral are greenish though.
