Purchased this reef lobster a few years ago without any problems. But have recently decided to buy small fish again and I think he is killing/eating them at night. Have lost three firefish goby's within a week of purchase - no bodies found. Noticed the ones that have survived stay out in the front /open part of the tank - even at night. Found a wounded one this AM - obviously took a gash in the middle of the body by something. Came home after work and the wounded one is gone. If I catch him - does anybody want him?? Free... if interested please contact me - I will keep him in my refugium until someone wants him or if I can turn him over to Seahorse or Aquaworld in a week or two. If I did not know better I would say I picked up a mantis shrimp- but have not added any new live rock. Have had the same several fish ( rock beauty angel, a large green chromis, a red hawkfish, two Domino damsel - which were given to Seahorse 1 week ago) prior to adding the 5 firefish for over a year without any deaths. Tank parameters are good- as far a fish go: lower ca+/mg+ than I would like for my corals , but ph = 8.0 , temp = 80, alk= 10dlk. SO unless these guys are dying from the stress of the move and then being eaten by the lobster, worms, starfish before I see a body I can only conclude that the lobster is hunting/killing and eating them. Any thoughts, experiences woudl be appreciated.
