Pink skunk spawning.

Awesome! I have three different pairs of Skunks and have yet to hear them "click" though one of the pairs I have did in a much larger tank when they were there. Keep us posted.

Wow that's awesome! I've had my black clowns shaking, nipping, chasing, and sharing the same toadstool with each other for 3 years....and no eggs. The size difference is pretty obvious too. I am crossing my fingers!!

Very nice. Nice clam and anemones too.

Thanks a lot. I am really proud of the anemones, and the clam too. Want to get another clam for that tank, but I am running out of room. :)

The first time I heard them "bark" I had no idea what was going on, could even hear it over the TV. Now I like to go up to the tank just to make them do it --- their whole body shakes when they are doing it. The eggs have already turned a darker color, tried to get a picture of them, but the angle wasn't right.

It took my pair about 2.5 years to start. :) Though I would expect yours to take less time, since skunks are harder to get started.

On a related note, got a picture of the eggs that my Clarkii pair laid the other night. These are in a must better spot for taking pictures. I got a nice close up of them just now (( but dang I wish I had a marco lens, would have been easier. ))

It still is a cool picture even without the macro lens. Why is some of the eggs lighter than the others? Are some eggs unfertilized?

Thats great! Most likely they bit the anemone a little to make it retract, nothing serious, but man did it retract! Nice job and nice pics of the act. Keep up the good work.

You know, I am not sure why some are lighter then others -- and I don't think it had anything to do with how I took the picture. I will have to keep taking pictures of those eggs to see if they all are fertilized or not. I do remember feeding the Clarkiis while they were spawning, perhaps the male forgot to go back.

You see what happens when it fully retracts, would never know that I had an anemone in that tank. And they can completely pull back into the sandbed/under a rock in a second or two.

Thanks for posting! now I want pink skunks!
do the skunks tolerate other fish in the tank now that they have spawned?
I have a pair of ocellaris and I wonder if I can keep a pair of pink skunks with them in a 110 gal.

They are defiantly more aggressive now. I personally wouldn't try it.

About 3-4 weeks ago (( and the skunks had already been spawning )), I added a Juvi Potter's angel to that tank --- it has an existing Potter's -- it was the skunks that went after it, and not the existing angel. They have calmed down a bit, but still chase the new guy a lot. And in fact they also chase the existing Potter's more.

I also agree, I wouldn't mix spawning clown pairs, or even pairs for that matter, unless the tank is huge.

If you want multiple clown pairs though no need for a huge tank just a bunch of little ones :)

my roommates would kill me if I added yet another tank to the house so I can have more clowns! tee hee

My Ex-wife thought the same way --- note that I said "ex" :)

I think I'm going to pick up a pair of these guys for my 55 gallon tank this weekend. What kind of nem do they like other than the carpet that you have?

Before I moved the Haddoni into their tank, this pair was hosted by a purple LTA --- which is one of their natural hosts. They were also hosted by an BTA when I first got them.

awesome!

how do you keep your substrate to white and white lighting do you have those haddoni under? Beautiful.

Oddly enough, my dyslexic brain read that right. :)

I keep the sand white by having some Nass snails, and by gravel vaccing with each weekly water change.

I have the Haddonis under 2*250 XM 20K + 1 96 PC dual actinic & 1 96 PC 50/50.

Got some new pictures tonight. The skunk eggs should be hatching fairly soon.

It is hard to get a good picture because of where the eggs are, but here is the best one I could get.

The Clarkii eggs are behind by a couple of days, but am able to get better pictures of those,

A bit further back, helps give a size relationship,

I love the photos where you can see the little eyes, very cool. My ocellaris just layed a new batch of eggs today. I am tearing the tank down Sunday. I think I will be more tramatized then they will be by having to dump the eggs.
