pink spot goby & mandarin

Will a pink spot goby dessimate the pod population in the sand with the sand sifting behavior and compete for food stuffs that a mandarin would eat?

Bump. Would really like to keep both. I know how difficult it is to sustain live food for the mandarin and want to know if the constant sand sifting by the goby will affect that or if it won't affect at all.

You'll have to wait till your tank is at least 1 year old to add a mandarin. Your tank and refug is pretty small. It'll be hard for you to sustain the pod population with a 5g tank.

I kept a mandarin in a 50g (no fuge or sump) for about 2 years . Added it after tank was up about 6 months. I have no doubt it was dumb luck that it survived, much less thrived. It mostly hung around the rock picking off pods. It might not compete with the goby as far as where it feeds, but I would have a backup plan in case one starts looking unhealthy.

Thanks for the input. I am a LONG WAY off from getting a mandy. No fish yet, just getting my stock plan together, but wanted to plan ahead and if I was planning to get a mandy down the road, didn't want to get something that precluded it or where I would have to get rid of that fish.

Do you know if mandarins will also eat fry from spawnings in an aquarium, such as sexy shrimp?

I personally would not try to keep a mandarin in that size tank.
I don't agree w/ the 150g comment, more like around 75g or so depending on how much LR and how big of a fuge.
