Anyone keep a sebastapistes cyanostigma? I've had one for a couple of years in a nano on its own but am upgrading so was wondering what suitable tankmates there might be. I've got a couple of Allen's damsels that i'd like to keep in there but unsure whether these would be fare game?

any advice or experience would be appreciated.

Mines in my reeftank, cardinals, damsells angels wrasse tangs lionfish etc no probs

Can ask how big the damsels and scorpionfish are? My problem/worry is that as the tank is long but shallow and thin 40x8x8", is that it's more a case of constantly bumping into each other rather than the scorpionfish being able to get out of the way.

the scorp will hide a lot shouldn't be a problem

I had one for a few months. When I moved, a friend wanted it for a dedicated 30 gallon. The fish was maybe 2", but hid a lot. Has a huge mouth, very cool to feed. I think you will be fine though. Shallow, but if you have any overhangs it will likely hide there.

It does hide, well sits in the same spot all day, and I'm moving that same structure over to one end. I guess I'll try it and see what happens.
