k, I broke my refractometer so instead of shelling out another $70 to $100 on a new good one I bought the pinpoint salinity meter for a few sheckles more hearing that it is more accurate and reliable.
So today I open the package and try and calibrate it and no matter what I did couldn't get the thing to stay on 53.0. I would follow the directions, fill little cup with the 53 solution, swirl it around for a couple minutes, get my reading, adjust the screw to hit 53.0. Then I would take the probe out and put it back in and after another 2 minutes it would hit somewhere between 52.8 and 53.2, tried using new cup of solution, same deal, as soon as I either took the probe out and stuck it back in or turned the unit on or off I'd be either +/- 0.2
is this common with these units?
Also tried it in my tanks, and it seemed like the reading would move constantly for the few minutes I held it in the tank, would start at like 53.2 and then slowly work down and hover +/- at around 52.4.
Any tips or suggestions?
