hello i like how those pipefish looks and im wandering are they difficult or easy to take care of.and where can i find them my lfs dont have them i can order one but i would like to buy wysiwyg

LiveAquaria.com
BlueZooAquatics.com

Both sell pipefish, not sure about WYSIWYG though. Check the divers den and collectors choice on those sites.

ok thanks, when i said wysiwyg i meant that i could get info of what im buying some lfs will tell you we are not sure how big or what color you know they just tell you the price

I know what WYSIWYG means: what you see is what you get

When I said I'm not sure about wysiwyg I meant I'm not sure if they have pipefish in their WYSIWYG sections ;)

They do sell various pipefish species and let you choose which size you want though

I would wait to order anything fedex right now...I had a shipment of shrimpfish that were supposed to be delivered today (paid extra for sat delivery) Instead they are sitting in Memphis until Monday assuming they figure out how to remove a tiny bit of snow and ice from their airport........you would think that an international airport would have some form of deicing procedure even if it was pretty unlikely occurrence.

Thanks for telling me that im waiting for a better weather to order a few things i want.

I live in indianapolis and would like to know a online store close to here anyone that knows one, thanks

I was thinking on asking them but i dont know some people been telling me that since i have a carpet anemone is going to eat it so dont know if i should buy one or not.

the only pipes i'd try with a carpet nem would be flagfins (genus Doryhamphus) since they're swimmers.

Personally, I wouldn't try any pipefish, even the flagtail pipefish. Even though they're swimmers, they spend part of the time gliding near the surface of rocks, especially when they're being cautious. One brush with the carpet and no more pipes. I am not fond of the idea of any anemone with pipefish, but doubly so with carpet nems. I know people do it but IMHO its a huge risk.

I've got a little more unusual setup. In my 400 reef, I have from a 9"vlamingi tang to a pair of Janss' pipes and a zebra moray + a ribbon eel(35 fish total). They have been in my tank for a year and noone bothers them and I've a large green carpet + a BTA. Albeit, I've got 5-600lbs of live rock so they stay in the rockwork 95% of the time. I see them in passing but they are doing well.

I most definitely would not put any sygnathids in a tank w/ anemones let alone a a carpet anemone. Carpet anemones are the most aggressive kind of anemones there is. My LFS "All-Reef" doesn't even sell carpets because they are not reef safe. :) Happy Reefing

Opines vary, don't they...
