what are the adult sizes for these pipes?
banded
dragon face
multibanded
african bluestripe
Janss' Pipefish

thanks a ton! oh and how hardy/ beginner safe are they (as in how-likely-to-die-in-all-but-the-best-care-are-they?)

As Per LiveAquaria:

Banded: 8"
Dragonface: 7"
Multibanded: 7"
Janss': 8"

Banded, Multibanded, and Janss' are listed as "Expert Only" while the Dragonface is "Difficult."

HTH.

Wow, I just got a couple Doryrhamphus excisus sp. pipes (subspecies of the blue stripes) and they are TINY. Their little snouts are about as thick as a mechanical pencil lead. I wasn't expecting them to be so small.

So bluestripe pipes don't get very big at all. Fishbase has them listed at around 3" max size
