Pipefish and crab/shrimp

Can I keep a dragonface pipefish with a pom pom crab, cleaner shrimp, and peppermint shrimp?

Even though I keep 3 types of pipefish, I do not have real experience/knowledge with this group. Are you asking about the dragonface because that is what you have? or Is there evidence that suggests that dragonface do not get along with shrimp or crabs?

FYI - I have Banded, Bluestripe & Orange banded pipefish. The Banded & Bluestipe are in our DT with Blood shrimp, sexy shrimp, peppermint shrimp & pom pom crab with no apparent problems. I also had a very large cleaner shrimp in with it for a while. The cleaner shrimp was removed as learned to stick it legs down the mouths of my LPS to steal their food after I spot feed them. The orangestripe is in our QT with peppermint shrimp again without problems.

How big is your tank? I doubt they will interact with your inverts at all, but the peppermints may compete for pods. So your tank would need to be large to be sure everyone has enough to eat.

Bela N- I will be getting this pipefish, it is on order. I was curious how it would do with inverts because some people say the shrimp/crabs will kill them.

I would not be worried. Crabs and shrimp may eat them after they die of starvation. otherwise, I doubt it.

I have a dragonface pipefish in my reef tank with a big blood red cleaner shrimp and they dont care about each other at all and have never had a problem with anything else bugging the pipefish either but I dont have a pom pom crab . Sorry I had pep shrimp as well and no problem my tanks a 40 bredder too . The pipefish is very brave and can get away very quickly if needed so u shouldnt have a problem . Great fish and love it enjoy urs when u get it they r a real conversation starter and can watch them all day they r so intereasting in my opinion.

What would you guys think about keeping them with LPS such as frogspawn, acans, chalice, and candy cane?

Dragonfaces slither and like to perch on corals. They probably know to stay away from stinging corals, but I would avoid them anyway. I would stick to softies or acros.

When I tried this in a 40 gallon (sadly, it didn't work because they never took prepared foods) mine like to hang out in a big green nephthea.

I currently have two zebra pipefish a porcelin crab, pom pom, a large skunk cleaner,a pederson cleaner shrimp and a white spot in a 30 gallon they r all fine

I had dragon faced pipes and janss pipes with pederson shrimp, cleaner shrimp, kuekenthal shrimp, sexy shrimp, porcelain crabs and emerald crabs, and never had any issues whatsoever with anyone.
