The typical reply to this is that all aquarium seahorses are captive bred (or at least should be- DONT BUY wild caught) so they are disease free and may not have immunity to certain diseases. Contrary, virtually all pipes are wild caught and have at least been exposed to a variety of possible disieases or parasites. A lengthy quarantine of the pipe can help counteract this but is no gaurantee. I keep pipes and seahorses with no issues.
