Been reading lots and thanks to those guys who responded to my many questions!
Heres another-can i use ordinary house pipes to run the water from my overflow to pump? Is it toxic?
thanks:)

What size tank is it. The most common hole is a 1" in most pluming for tanks. What size return pump are you going to be running.

thanks. Thats from overflow to sump. Where would you return? Into the overflow then take the pipe back over the top? Sorry-new to sumps!

Yeah I would drill 2-3 1" holes in the back near the top to drain to the sump then. Then I would bring the return over the top of the tank, or you can have another hole drilled in the tank and come in through that way. Eather way will work.

I thought the holes to drain to the sump would be on the bottom of the tank and i could connect my pipes there? I'm getting confused again -sorry!

Your thread scares me. What if the Christmas tree needs water? It'll die with all those holes.

I agree, but I would at least add a small hole to allow for proper drainage...
