pistol/goby symbios

trying my best at this...
I would like to add a pistol (tiger) shrimp...
will my blue-spotted goby (about 3-4inch long) go into symbios with it or do I need a yellow watchman?

Are you talking about the bluespot watchman thats kind of goldish looking?

here's a pic... it's quite shy lol

I have the same fish, and he is paired with my Tiger Pistol, so yes they will pair. To do this, place the shrimp near to the burrow where the goby resides and let them do the rest.

can a tiger shrimp be dangerous to my other shrimps (sexy, cleaner, red)?

possibly but not likely. I had a pistol in with 4 peppermints, 1 scarlet cleaner, and 1 fire red cleaner. Never had a problem.... well, until I introduced a mystery wrasse that is but that's another story. :hmm2:

Can't help but laugh at this one :) My mystery wrasse has eaten more shrimp dinners than I have.... Only one big bad mean a** cleaner has survived.... UGGGG gorgeous fish, but I kind of wish sometimes I didn't have him LOL I miss watching cleaner shrimp play. And it would be real nice to be able to keep peps.

I definitely miss my cleaners but the mystery wrasse I like more. He devoured the peppermint shrimp the first night he was in there. The cleaner lasted another two weeks and though it would be fine. I was totally wrong on that. I got to see him go after the fire shrimp. The shrimp came darting out of a cave and right behind him was the wrasse. Then in one quick dart forward the wrasse took the shrimp's head clean off. I was in shock and amazement. Wish I had gotten it on camera but sad at the same time.

For some reason he doesn't go near the pistol shrimp though... :frog:

The mystery wrasse would go if he did anything to the pistol. I like the pistol more then the wrasse. The yellow watchman gobie does a really good job too at pushing all the other fish away from their mining excavation sites.

Yeah.. he munched all the peps in short order, and the one cleaner that survived can only be seen by flashlight if you peep in the middle of the night... :( Not the way a cleaner should live :( But I do agree Jason, the mystery is an awesome fish... Even though I sometimes regret that I can't keep shrimp, I won't pull him out.. And I'd get him again :) Josee........ It gives me an excuse to keep two tanks :)

the tiger pistol shrimp is here!!!

got a yellow watchman fiew days ago too.. I'll see if they get along.. or if the shrimp will choose the blue-spoted! :)

Make sure you have adequate distance between the two gobies, they will jaw at each other if either encroaches on the others territory, it is amusing to watch how big their mouths get when quarreling :D

Edit: Where did you pick up the Tiger Pistol at, if I may ask?
