Pistol/goby?

How long would it take for a goby to find a pistol shrimp in its hole.i would like to add a goby but my pseudo chromis is very aggressive and will attack unless I find a way for the goby to get in the burrow quickly.
 
how big is your tank, and they usually hook up pretty quick.

One thing I did once was take a piece of 1" clear tubing and I dropped the goby right into my pistols burrow. They hooked up almost immediatly after that; so I would give that an option if you are worried about the chromis.
 
I had my goby in my tank for several months by itself. I went and picked up a pistol shrimp and without a few hours they were digging burrows together and creating their home under the rocks. A very neat thing to watch. You probably won't see them as much as you like just a fair warning but I'd highly recommend them. :bounce1:
 
It shouldn't take long in a 30 gallon tank. I had a 29g tank and bought a trio (candy cane pistol with 2 yasha gobies) off Diver's Den as my first fish back in April '09 and if memory serves me right, they didn't take but a few days to get all together. Put all 3 in and they went into the first hiding spot they could see and eventually found each other. Your pseudo could limit their ability to explore, though. What pseduo is it?
 
Unless you are really attatched to the purple pseudo, I would just pull it. That fish will dominate anything in a 29 gallon (and even in bigger tanks as well).
 
doesnt take long at all...i had a pistol in my 90 for a while before i puit in a blue fin goby, took about an hour for them to connect and start tunneling. Before the goby was added, the pistol only came out at night or for food. after the fish went in, they are out and making piles of sand every day...my pistol kills my snails and uses the shells for doors to all the burrows..
 
I had a set in my 130g and they didn't find each other at all for a couple of months- ywg kept getting into my overflow and surfing into the sump. Had a brook outbreak and had to go fallow so got my remaining fish into QT. They found each other there and have bee inseperable since. Funny, I put them both into my new 260 and they bolted to opposite sides, next morning the YWG was poking his head out of the shrimps new burrow.
Like the tube idea- once they find each other it's done so in a small tank should be no problem.
 
I have to caution the OP about Tiger pistol's. They get bigger than Candy Cane's and can see better and will venture out of the burrow. There have also been cases where the pistol killed it's goby. Just wanted to give a heads up.
 
IME they usually pair up at night, so the corms would probably be sleeping when it happened.

P.S. Sometimes it takes a week or two for them to pair up.
 
My randel and pistol bought them as a pair took about 2 days to hook up again that was in a ten gallon. I then moved them later on into a 40 and they were together in less then 5hours
 
I lost my original shrimp shortly after my recent move -- though they were never paired anyways.

Went to an LFS, picked up another shrimp, released it near the goby's hole, the next day they were out working on redoing my sandbed. It seems like each day (( it has been about 3 months now )) they get more bold.

Thanks for the input.ive tried to remove my pseudo in the past but gave up after 3 days.hes smart so I'm going to try the tube and hope for the best
