I'm upgrading my lighting (thats another question) so I can introduce clams into my tank, but I know I have a good sized pistol shrimp (2.5") in my tank. I feed him regularly. Do I need to get rid of my pistol, or is he safe around a clam?
man i got home from work today to see my clam completly retreated into its shell but the shell was not closed and my cleaner shrinp picking
away at it. i removed the shrimp but the clam is in the same position. Is it dead ?

More than likely the clam was dying or had already died from whatever cause, and the cleaner shrimp was just eating the remains.
It's sort of like how many people think bristleworms killed a coral or clam, when in reality it had probably already died, and they were just cleaning up.
