pix of today's spawn

FTS's only. I'm sure that I missed some great (macro) shots. I know that I missed a great pic when my Angelfish tried to inhale a cloud of worm spawn.

Whoa is right! Now Gary, is it because your tank is so clean and well taken care of that they spawn or is that a natural thing? You said your fish were having problems with this happening? How do you feel on the spawning?

well, we know how the fish feel. :hmm4: but great question...what does that do to the tank? does it affect anything?

good questions.

As for spawning.... let's just say that I'm all for it :)

It's a good sign.

I'm sure that heavy feedings and regular water changes triggered this latest spawning event. Since it was such a heavy spawn my fishes were breathing rapidly at one point. If it had been any "worse" I would have done a water change.

Awesome.

Do you think that lunar/solar cycles play any role in aquarium spawnings? We're getting closer to the equinox now, so I wonder if that could be a factor.

This sparked my curiosity and initiated a google search on "lunar cycles ocean spawn". There's lots of cool studies with some very unusual ideas and outcomes that come up.

It stinks being able to read only abstracts, since I don't want to shell out $34 per article on Springerlink.com! :(

good point!

good point!

lunar/solar cycles definitely play a factor in these spawning events.
Although I don't run any type of lunar simulation program my aquarium does receive varying degrees of sunlight throughout the year.

Looks like your orange torch is ready to frag Gary :).

How well does the archilles and powder blue do together?

thinking about getting an archilles but heard mixed things....have a few options of what tank to put him in but everyone has one or two tangs already. Not going in with my 9 inch sohal though.....:)

yep....that is why I said they wont be tank mates.

I would think the same with your powder blue and archilles.....two surgeons and the powder blues are usually bastards
