pj shark acting weird, please help

I have a 250 gallon tank with a 75 gallon refugium. I run RO water and have 2 PJ sharks, both about 8 inches. I've had them for about 5 months now and one of them is suddenly not eating, sitting around all day as opposed to being its very active self and has a reddish swollen like anus. I feed them Silverside mainly and clams and squid every so often. All water tests are normal, but Nitrate is a tad high 30ppm. Im doing a water change tonight. I love these sharks like kids and id hate to loose one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou

Dont have any sharks but they are really sensitive to nitrates i think. also port jackson sharks get really large so you are going to need alot bigger tank in the thousand gallon range.

Yes. Most likely around 1500-2000 gallons for two.

Yeah, when they get larger they will need a bigger tank. But right now thats not the problem. I am going to PM you with how to fix it.

They are also not a warm water shark, they need colder waters.

What type of substrate is in the tank?

Are you adding vitamins to the diet?

PJ sharks are found in subtropical and temperate water zones off the coast of southern AU. With this surface temp map http://www.ldeo.columbia.edu/~kushnir/MPA-ENVP/Climate/slides/sst_march.gif the range is around 16c-25c or 60.8F-77F. And remember this is just the surface temp. Thos sharks are usually found at the 100m range which is going to drop the temp a bit.

i have aragalive sand for the substrate, and i put Marine Zoe in the food and add marine C to the water... How do you de-worm them?
