Place to buy a sump

Acrylic or glass? Most LFS can make a custom sump for you. If you are handy, just make one out of glass tank.

I would like to get an acrylic one. The tank that I have is a 75 gal, and I am hoping to buy one that fits inside the stand.

if you want an exact size / design i'd recommend going custom.

i got a custom sump that fits perfectly inside my stand for $250. the sump is 24" x 18.5" x 16"

I know Gen from KritterTanks dot com makes them. I got mine from Socalcreations dot com.

Go to AG and talk to Bao. He knows people making them. custom acrylic sump won't be cheap.

Any store in the Bay Area just about can get you a TruVu sump, which are designed to fit just about any stand. CPR sumps are also well designed in that sense and many of our LFS carry CPR products.

I just got a sump made from Gen at Krittertanks - was $310 for a 48"x17.5"x18" sump, 3/8" acrylic. Took about two weeks from the time I ordered it.

Actually, as I spend more and more time on Melev's site about the sumps, I am now interested in buying a glass tank and use it to build a sump, possible design F on his site. By the way, Can I use acrylic baffles with a glass tank?

why use acrylic when you can buy glass for much cheaper?
Any glass can cut the glass for you.

Yeah you can use acrylic to make a baffle for a glass tank but it won't be as strong as glass.

Acrylic is easier to work with, especially when cutting teeth for a surface skimmer/overflow into a different chamber. Plus, in case you need to do some minor adjustments that require cutting, a table saw/chop saw or even a dremel can fix that quite easily. Just go to TAP plastics or something similar, it's cheap.

I built mine after looking at melevs site for a few months. not the prettiest thing in the world but it fits perfectly under my 55. I wanted to maximize space so it was 40 by 10 by 16 and fits and ASM g-2. it really isn't as hard as you think and Melev really does a good job of expaining things out well.
