Placement for Elegance Coral

Does everyone keep their Elegance on the floor/sandbed? I have mine up on the rockwork about midway up the tank under 150W HQI. Just curious on whether it should be on the ground instead?

I will be getting an Aussie Elegance soon, my current one is an unknown as I got it from another reefer.

Thanks!

Everything I've read says on the sandbed so that's where I put mine. It's doing great, under PC lighting though. I've seen some higher in rockworks and they also looked great.

I'd imagine what's more important is the amount of lighting and flow where ever it is that you put it.

They can go both places, but need slowly acclimated to higher lighting. I would start your new one out low in the tank and to the side of your mh.

Exactly.

In general, they can be harder to place on the rocks, you kinda have to pinch them in between rocks to have them held upright. If they're unstable between the rocks, they will get unhappy, and for this reason I like keeping them in the sand. When I do keep them in the rocks usually I apply a little epoxy to the base to help it stay put.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'll start it off on the bottom then. The reason I was asking was because I heard the Aussie ones do like more light than their Indo counterparts.
