Placement Question

Can someone assist me this coral as far as placement is concerned? It's in a standard 75 with 250 MH about 4" from the water surface with Phoenix 14k's.

Thank you, I have spent the last couple hours elbow deep in my tank, so I think I'll give that a try tomorrow.

Depending on depth of tank/lighting, you should always adjust your corals to your light since usually it is going to be different from where you purchased/aquired it from.

I do this by leaving them on the sandbed for about one month, then slowly move them to the spot I want them at.

I'm not necessarily saying this is the correct way to do it but i go by what lighting the frag was under when i purchased it. if their lighting is stronger than yours i pretty much place it where i want it. if weaker than i would start low tank then move it up to where i want it after a week or two. granted initial placement 4" below the surface does seem a little on the high side.

Once it starts to color up just move it up about 4 inches at a time. If it remains as stark white go very slowly over a periods of probably weeks. Any polyp extention should also tell you it is happy with it's current placement.

Thank you all for the helpful info. I have it placed at the bottom. As far as polyp extension goes I have noticed them extending more day by day from when I brought it home. The picture does not show all the color of the coral, it has bluish tips with very light brown highlights.

Do you use a month to month time line for the coral movement upwards?

Nope, usually just a month to adjust to light. Then move to where I want it... but never a very drastic move. However, most of the time so far that has caused bleaching (Because I like to move a little *too* high (have to keep close eye on it)) and then I will lower/raise it depending on that.
