Placement question

I was just wondering what would be the best placement for blue colored zoos? They are blue with brown skirt (not tubbs), they are in a 12 gal nano with a 14k 70watt MH lighting. Thanks in advance for your help.

if u r just introducing them to the system and lighting i would place them on the bottom at first so they can acclimate to the hight powered lights.

Thats where I always start my frags out. I was wondering as far as final placement thou. Are blues higher or lower light to keep that rich blue color? I know it varies from system to system, just kinda looking for the average placement.

i would think that u wouldnt want them to near the top with a 14k bulb, my guess would be wherever they go as long as they r happy with the flow and amount of light and are fully opened up they r going to do their thing

It's trial an error unless you know the region of collection. Also, knowing what type of lighting they were under in the persons tank you got them from also helps. If they came from a system with high light, I would place them half or 2/3 off the sand. I don't believe polyp should ever be placed just under the water surface.

If you place them on the sand for a week, just watch and see how they do. Then move them to mid tank levels, what for retraction, fading and good expansion. If all is well, I'd leave them there. Persistently moving them around will only stunt their growth. Hope this helps.
