Placing new live rock in established tank

Hey guys, quick question for all of you. I dropped by my regular lfs and picked up a few pieces of LR from their rock bin, now, I'm wondering if I'll need to cure them before dumping them in my tank. They were already cured at the LFS, but they were kept out of water in a bag for approx. an hour before I got home. As soon as I got home I dumped them in my bucket of pre mixed saltwater and ran a heater and powerhead. It's a pretty small amount of live rock. Just under 1 lb of the stuff, just something I could attach some small zoa frags to so they won't take over the rest of my live rock. Is 1 lb of rock enough to make a difference in a 30g system?

Also, a side question. I recently got this frag of encrusting montipora on a piece of live rock. It's flat on the bottom and has almost fully encrusted over the piece of live rock. I bought a small flat piece of live rock and I was wondering if I could just glue the bottom of the live rock onto the new rock, in order to allow the colony to grow larger. Will this work?

If you take the rock out of the water is there a strong smell of dead or decaying matter? If you I would not add it and would scrub it with a brush and then cycle the rock. If there isn't a strong smell it should be fine.

I just took the pieces out of the bucket and I honestly didn't really smell anything. Kind of just smelled like salt water.

It should be good to go if it smells like saltwater. An hour out of the water isn't going to do anything to the rock as long as it was kept moist. I'm assuming they put it in plastic bags for you to take home?
