I'm just trying to make sure i get everything right with this one. I'll try to provide as much info about the tank as possible.
I Just picked up a Marineland 40g cube today (24x24x19) at one of my LFS. It is already drilled and has an overflow installed. This will be an upgrade from my 14g biocube.
Being that this tank will (hopefully) be sps dominate, I am trying to get an equipment list together.
this is what I have for now.
DIY stand
20h sump/fuge
MJ1800 return pump?
DIY LED fixture w/ arduino controller
2x rw-4 powerheads
I still need suggestions for a skimmer (leaning towards a reef octo.)
The tank came with what appears to be a 1'' drain and a 1'' bulkhead to a 3/4'' locline return. Not sure how this will work with the return pump. I am thinking 1/2'' or 3/4'' pipe to a 1'' union, unless 1'' will work for the entire return.
I have been reading up on flow rates for sumps, and a general agreement is lower flow is better. According to the data I've read, the MJ1800 pushes 255GPH at 4' of head. And a plus side, they are supposed to be super quiet.
Right now, i am thinking mainly about the plumbing as I have never plumbed a system like this before. Does anyone have any suggestions?
