Planning new system, have ghl lighting questions...

Hi,

I'm designing a new system and have a few ghl related lighting questions. The tank will be 48x30x24 and I'm planning on using 4 of the GHL T5 strips (for 8 bulbs total).

1. Are the 54w GHL T5 light strips compatible with the ATI bulbs and are they overdriven?

2. Will the LED simu-sticks provide glimmer lines if run at 100% when not being used for sunrise/sunset/storm simulation? How many would you think I would need for this size tank?

3. If the simu-sticks won't provide glimmer, how about the aquaray sticks?

Thanks in advance for any and all help,
Josh

1. Are the 54w GHL T5 light strips compatible with the ATI bulbs and are they overdriven?

ANSWER - As long as they are dimmable compatable then yes, no they are not over driven

2. Will the LED simu-sticks provide glimmer lines if run at 100% when not being used for sunrise/sunset/storm simulation? How many would you think I would need for this size tank?

ANSWER - I assume you refer to a shimmer effect, they provide a subtle shimmer. On your size tank I would opt for two max to get full overall effect

3. If the simu-sticks won't provide glimmer, how about the aquaray sticks?

ANSWER - Aquaray are controllable by GHL and are a more dedicated light concept for providing daylight lighting so it depends on what you wish to achieve.

Thanks so much for the quick reply, great info!

Quick followup.... Do the light strips incorporate active cooling, or would I need to diy my own with fans in the canopy?

Thanks,
Josh
