Planning sumpless tank with Doc skimmer - Question

Hey guys,... I am planning an all in one cube (about 50-60g) with a false back wall with compartments for skimmer and refugium.

I havent decided yet if i will have the whole wall be an overflow or only a section,...but I was thinking a using a Tunze doc skimmer in one of the compartments. A 9010 to start with and then later maybe upgrade from the cup to the collector of the 9020...

Any one have a similar setup that would like to share their thoughts ? Any problems you forsee or any ideas from you guys who own the skimmer ?

I think the idea is fine but if it was my tank I would not build the false wall, I would just stack live rock around the skimmer. I have seen some very nice set ups in Europe where people make a PVC rack and drill live rock and stack it on the rack in a shape that leaves a compartment for the filter.

Here is what i had in mind (simplified sketch)

I want to be able to have a refugium and return compartment also space for the topoff float switches, phos reactor and pump for the UV. It might end up being bigger then 60 gallons,...say up to 80 or 90...

I will see if I can find some pictures. Your plan will work it just is a matter of tank space, I think my proposal gives you more available tank space.

I have the skimmer (9010) and it works great. I run a sumpless setup and the skimmer is setup in the corner of the tank using a Tunze magnet.

I do the same and it is quite unobtrusive.

I did my set up just like Rodger explained, except in my refugium. I have a 9010 hung on the side wall of my fuge (in the 1st chamber where my water drains down to). In the compartment I stacked live rock around it. The H2O then flows into the second chamber with a RDSB, LR, and Algae, then to the 3rd with my pumps and PO4 reactor. I'll post pics later.
